Wood heating gives customers a real solid-fuel fire, but there is a major difference between choosing a freestanding heater and an inbuilt fireplace. Alfresco Outdoors & Heating carries both formats across a broad specialist range that includes Lopi, Coonara, Morso, Metters, Kalora, Dovre, Arrow, HeatCharm, ADF, Quadra-Fire and MaxiHeat.

Freestanding wood heaters are usually the most visually recognisable format, with the appliance standing clear of the wall on a compliant hearth and connected to an approved flue system. Current products include compact and larger-capacity heaters from Coonara, the Australian-made Metters Kosi No. 25 and No. 35, Morso cast-iron stove designs and multiple Kalora freestanding models. Lopi also offers freestanding wood heaters in different sizes, with some models available with optional fan or ignition features depending on the product.

Inbuilt wood fireplaces are intended for customers who want the fire integrated into an existing or purpose-built fireplace opening. The range includes Lopi inbuilt fireplaces and Coonara models such as Compact, I500 and Phoenix. Inbuilt models need to be assessed against the opening, hearth, surround and flue arrangement, so dimensions and clearances are just as important as heating capacity.

The correct model should be selected against the room or home being heated rather than simply choosing the largest firebox. Insulation, ceiling height, floor plan and local climate all affect real-world performance. Wood heaters also require compliant installation and flue components. Use Indoor Wood Fireplaces or individual brand collections when you are ready to compare models more closely.
