Metters wood heaters bring one of Australia’s best-known stove names into the modern home through the Kosi range. Alfresco Outdoors & Heating offers the Australian-made Kosi No. 25 and Kosi No. 35, two freestanding wood heaters designed for different heating requirements.
The Kosi No. 25 is the smaller of the two, with Metters specifying an average output of 6.4kW, a 54-litre firebox and heating capacity of up to 250m². Its tested emissions figure is 0.8g/kg with 67% efficiency. For larger open-plan homes, the Kosi No. 35 increases average output to 7.8kW and firebox capacity to 73 litres, with Metters specifying heating capacity of up to 350m², 0.7g/kg emissions and 68% efficiency.
Both Kosi models use interlocking vermiculite firebox liners, while the range can also accommodate an optional external room-air system. Metters explains that external air supplies combustion oxygen from outside the home, an option particularly relevant to modern well-insulated or airtight houses. The Kosi range is designed and engineered in Australia and manufactured in Metters’ Australian workshop.
When choosing between the two, consider the space being heated as well as the physical size of the appliance. The No. 25 targets substantial residential areas, while the larger firebox and higher output of the No. 35 make it better suited to very large open-plan spaces. Compare individual models for installation dimensions, hearth requirements, clearances and flue specifications before choosing.
